How did you get into Naturopathic Oncology?

If you had asked me at 8 years old what I wanted to do when I grew up, I would have told you I was going to cure cancer. My grandmother had recently passed away from lung cancer and I was eager to create a magic pill that would cure any type of cancer. Humble, right? Fast forward decades later, I discovered naturopathic medicine and was placed on an oncology shift at Bastyr. I quickly realized this was the missing piece of care that I wanted to be able to provide to all patients. I filled my schedule with oncology electives, preceptorships, and shifts and when it came to applying for residencies I knew finding one that offered naturopathic oncology was very important to me.

What do you do during your downtime and/or what do you do for fun?

I love to do anything outside! Running, hiking, biking, dragging my ham of a French bulldog, Frankie, around Green Lake. On the cold and rainy days in Seattle, I love board games and will never turn down a game of Catan.

What quote sums up your daily practice with patients or guides your practice?

“One of the deep secrets of life is that all that is really worth doing is what we do for others.” – Lewis Carroll
