  • Erica Joseph, ND LAc, FABNO

    President

    Dr. Erica Joseph is a board-certified naturopathic oncologist (FABNO) practicing at Seattle Integrative Oncology (SIO), where she additionally completed a two-year oncology-based residency training program. She received her doctorate in naturopathic medicine (2014), a master’s degree in acupuncture (2014), and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and biology (2009) from Bastyr University. Dr. Joseph currently sees patients in two hospital-based locations, including the Providence Regional Cancer System in Olympia and Providence Regional Cancer Partnership in Everett, where she is part of and helps lead the integrative cancer care teams. Seattle Integrative Oncology proudly provides one of the few naturopathic oncology residencies in the Pacific Northwest and we are passionate about training the next generation of naturopathic oncologists.

    While Dr. Joseph specializes in integrative cancer care, she is also a licensed acupuncturist, and frequently uses these skills to aid patients in managing side effects such as nausea, hot flashes, neuropathy and much more, both during and after cancer treatment. Outside of her practice, Dr. Joseph is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine (JACM), has participated on the conference content committee for the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP) since 2017, and is active within the naturopathic medicine community in Washington State. She has provided numerous presentations to support groups for clinics and organizations in the Puget Sound region, including Cancer Lifeline, Swedish Cancer Institute, Kaiser and the University of Washington Medical Center. She has additionally spoken on topics related to integrative cancer care for the Puget Sound Oncology Nursing Society and grand rounds for Providence Hospital, as well as lectured at the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians (WANP) annual conference.

  • Payam Kiani, ND, FABNO

    Vice President

    Dr. Payam Kiani, ND, FABNO is a naturopathic doctor and the founder of Nova Health Integrative Medicine, a naturopathic clinic located in southern Ontario, Canada that uses evidence-informed complementary medicine in its approach to patient care. His clinical focus is naturopathic and integrative oncology for the treatment of individuals diagnosed with cancer, and his goal is to improve quality of life, increase treatment success, and reduce cancer reoccurrences for his patients. He is also the developer of the ND Access Program, a model of care that allows individuals with low income to access naturopathic care that would otherwise not be possible.

    Dr. Kiani completed his training as a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO) in 2013. He graduated with distinction from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (2005) and prior to that completed his Bachelor of Science degree in biology and psychology from McMaster University (2001).

    For nearly a decade he was a member of clinical faculty at CCNM, where he supervised naturopathic interns and residents on various clinical shifts, including those at its Integrative Cancer Centre. He is a frequent public speaker on various health topics and a guest lecturer in the academic program at CCNM. More recently, he has been working with the OncANP Board to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion within the association and the profession at large.

  • Michael Reid

    Michael Reid, ND, FABNO

    Treasurer

    Dr. Michael Reid, ND graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto in 2007. After graduation, he was one of the first licensed naturopathic doctors in Canada to work alongside an integrative MD who had a specialized focus in oncology since the early 90s. He gained invaluable experience, as residence opportunities were not available to naturopaths in Canada at that time. This experience and with his own private practice allowed him to meet the established criteria to achieve Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology (FABNO) certification in 2014.

    He is the current co-owner and medical director of HealthSource Integrative Medical Centre which provides naturopathic and integrative cancer care in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. His practice is almost exclusively oncology-focused and has provided supportive cancer care for patients locally, throughout Ontario, and abroad. In 2015, Dr. Reid wanted to advance what the centre could offer and was the sixth clinic in Canada to offer hyperthermia with the Oncotherm EHY 2000 as part of its cancer care program. HealthSource Integrative Medical Centre is one of 12 clinics chosen in North America who enrolled patients to be part of the Canadian and U.S. Integrative Oncology Study.

    Dr. Reid frequently lectures on integrative oncology and has been invited to speak to professionals and the public. He has dialogued with oncologists and health professionals throughout Ontario in support of patients for evidence-informed integrative oncology care. He has been involved with the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors in its feedback in the regulation regarding intravenous therapeutics in Ontario. With his extensive clinical experience in infusion therapy, he was approached by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario to assist in its development and work with its intravenous inspection program and regulation of clinics in the province.

  • Ellen Conte, ND, FABNO

    Secretary

    Dr. Ellen Conte is a naturopathic doctor and clinical researcher with a focus in integrative cancer care. Ellen practices at Halifax Naturopathic Health Centre, and is an associate researcher with the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and the Patterson Institute for Integrative Oncology Research. Her research evaluates the effects of a complementary and integrative approach to cancer care. Ellen’s work has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at academic conferences.

    Ellen received her degree in biochemistry from the University of Ottawa before obtaining her Doctor of Naturopathy from The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. She then completed a 2-year oncology-focused residency at the Ottawa Integrative Cancer Centre. Ellen is board certified in naturopathic oncology through the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology. Ellen is Chair of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physician’s Research Committee and is a member of the editorial review board for the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors Journal. She is a member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians and Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, is registered in good standing with the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors and the College of Naturopaths of Ontario, and is a Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology.

    Ellen lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia with her husband and daughter.

  • Lise Alschuler, ND, FABNO

    Director

    Lise Alschuler, ND, FABNO is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Arizona where she is the Associate Director of the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Brown University, Providence RI in 1988. Dr. Alschuler obtained her naturopathic medical degree from Bastyr University in Seattle WA in 1994 where she completed her residency in general naturopathic medicine the following year. She is board certified in naturopathic oncology and practices naturopathic oncology out of Naturopathic Specialists, LLC. Dr. Alschuler is past-President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and a founding board member, Past-President and current Board member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. Since 2010, Dr. Alschuler has co-hosted a weekly podcast, Five to Thrive Live!. She has been an invited speaker to more than 200 scientific/medical conferences, has authored numerous articles and book chapters, and has been an investigator on several research studies. Dr. Alschuler has co-authored two books, Definitive Guide to Cancer, now in its 3rd edition, and Definitive Guide to Thriving After Cancer. She envisions a world where all individuals with disease are offered personalized integrative care and are empowered to live exuberant and meaningful lives. Dr. Alschuler calls Tucson, AZ home.

  • Zachary Kadro, ND, MPH

    Director

    Zachary O. Kadro, ND, MPH, is a naturopathic physician and staff scientist at Fred Hutch Cancer Center in Seattle, Washington, in the Division of Supportive Care’s Integrative Medicine Program and the Division of Public Health Sciences’ Cancer Prevention Program. Dr. Kadro is a member of the University of Washington Physicians group and a teaching associate at the University of Washington School of Medicine in the Department of Medical Oncology. Dr. Kadro holds a Bachelor’s in General Studies from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a Master’s in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Bastyr University, Seattle, WA.

  • Sonia Malani, ND, FABNO

    Director

    Dr. Sonia Malani graduated from Bastyr University with her doctorate in naturopathic medicine in 2018. Prior to Bastyr, she graduated with a B.A in psychology from New York University. After Bastyr, Dr. Malani went on to complete a 2-year accredited integrative oncology residency at AIMS Institute under the supervision of Dr. Leanna Standish ND, PhD, FABNO and Dr. Sunil Aggarwal MD, PhD, FAAPMR. During her residency, Dr. Malani helped build the intravenous (IV) therapy clinic at AIMS and developed formulas for pain, hydration, cachexia and energy. She implemented two clinical trials investigating the efficacy of integrative medicine in an oncology and psychiatric setting. She is a contributing author to Ann Berger’s 5th Edition of Principles and Practice of Palliative Care and Supportive Oncology. Dr. Malani is co-investigator of the AIMS Cancer Outcomes Study (ACOS), a prospective outcomes study measuring overall survival in cancer patients utilizing integrative oncology. She currently serves as a research consultant for integrative and functional medicine organizations nationwide.

    Dr. Malani is also a certified yoga instructor, meditation teacher, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy provider. When away from the office, she is perfecting her barista skills, rummaging through her local library, and spending time with her family.

    She is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) and the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP).

  • Leanna Standish, ND, PhD, FABNO

    Director

    Dr. Standish is a neuroscientist and naturopathic physician living and working in Seattle WA. She holds faculty appointments at the University of Washington School of Medicine in the Radiology Department as well as at Bastyr University. She specializes in integrative oncology and neurology. She leads cancer research teams and holds an FDA IND for a phase I clinical trial of ayahuasca, a psychoactive Amazonian tea.

    Dr. Standish is board certified in naturopathic oncology. Her research is focused on the Asian medicinal mushroom Trametes versicolor in the treatment of breast and prostate cancer; functional brain imaging in the treatment of brain cancer; and the development of integrative oncology outcomes studies. New projects using IV Resveratrol and IV Curcumin to treat cancer are being developed.

    She has provided adjunctive naturopathic medical care to hundreds of cancer patients, and has worked collaboratively with Seattle area oncologists to provide integrated conventional/CAM care. A founding board member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Dr. Standish was board certified in naturopathic oncology in 2006. Her recognition by the oncology community as an expert in naturopathic medicine is evidenced by her being voted one of Seattle’s Best Physicians in the Seattle Metropolitan Magazine in 2002, 2004 and 2008. She has been a member of both the NIH and the Department of Defense study sections for scientific review of CAM research in cancer. Dr. Standish has served as a CAM oncology advisor to MD Anderson Cancer Center.

  • Heather Wright, ND, FABNO

    Director

    Dr. Heather Wright ND FABNO is a graduate of Bastyr University (’05) and is the President of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP). She currently works with oncology patients, is a lecturer and writer, and a consultant for integrative oncology research projects. Dr. Wright brings several years of executive board work as immediate past vice-President of the OncANP and 12 years of hospital-based naturopathic oncology care to her current role. Dr. Wright also has specialized training in the management of pancreatic cancer and in cancer research. She has co-authored several clinical trials to assess the benefit of natural approaches combined with conventional cancer treatment. During her pre-medical studies, Dr. Wright worked in the Harvard Mallinckrodt Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry Laboratory as lab manager and research assistant to Dr. James Wang, who identified topoisomerases. After graduation from Bastyr, Dr. Wright worked in her hometown hospital and cancer center in upstate NY and subsequently in a cancer treatment hospital in Pennsylvania. Dr. Wright now sees patients in Philadelphia, PA and is owner at Goodapplewellness.com.

    Dr. Wright is also currently a Research Director for KNOWoncology.org, a database that educates on integrative oncology research and offers naturopathic oncology support literature. Dr. Wright is passionate about educating patients and clinicians on evidence-based, natural therapies in cancer care with a focus toward improving quality of life and outcomes. She believes in a health care model that honors patient choice to utilize integrative care and works collaboratively with providers to achieve that.

Corey Murphy
Executive Director

Corey has been the OncANP Executive Director since Summer 2006. She graduated with a degree in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Oregon in 2005. After college, she returned home to Alaska and was hired as the Director of Communications at Avante Medical Center in Anchorage. With one of the founding OncANP board members as the clinic owner/director, Corey was introduced to the OncANP Board at AANP 2006 and the rest, as they say, is history.

Corey also works with other naturopathic specialty associations, including the PedANP and EndoANP.

Corey lives in Juneau, Alaska with her husband, Brian and two sons, Eoghan and Emmett. In her spare time, which is rare with two young kids, she enjoys exploring the Alaskan outdoors and traveling.

Randi Dixon
Executive Assistant

Randi 30+ years’ experience working for well-respected and established organizations, including the National Association of Nutrition Professionals, California Naturopathic Doctors Association, California Association of County Executives, Five to Thrive, California Redevelopment Association, California Alliance for Advanced Transportation Systems, and the Sacramento Association of REALTORS®.

Randi have extensive experience as a meeting planner, including contract negotiations with hotels, facilities and vendors, speaker support and logistics, expo management, registration processing and management, and bookstore management.

Randi lives in Sacramento, California. Her relaxation “to do” list includes spending time with her daughter Megan, needlepoint, watching true crime shows, and traveling.
